To start using Folder Marker Free you must first download and install the application on your Windows-powered PC. The good news is that you will fly through these two steps. Installing Folder Marker Free is an equally fast process. Just follow the steps presented by the setup wizard and you should be done in no time at all. Speaking of installing Folder Marker Free, it must be said that the application during our tests the app worked fine on Windows XP, but did not work on Windows 7. If you want a Folder Marker version that works with Windows 7, then you need to get either Folder Marker Home or Folder Marker Pro. Yes, there are 3 Folder Marker versions: Free, Home and Pro.

Getting back to Folder Marker Free, here is what you can do with the application:
- From the application’s interface you can easily change a folder’s color or icon. Let’s say you want to make a folder red. Just browse for the folder you want to color red -> select the color red -> click Apply.
- From within Windows Explorer you can easily change a folder’s color or icon. Let’s say you want to make a folder red. Just right click a folder -> go to Mark Folder -> Colors -> select the color red.
